Here is something I caught on my little camera tonight as we joined a real nice group of folks for a meet and greet. Oofta that’s a big piece of art!

This photo is taken from an old set of negatives I purchased years ago from a farm auction in Minnesota’s Pine County south of Moose Lake, Minnesota. All the family was gone. Oofta this photo is sweet! I like to imagine that these youngsters were guarding the farm from Dillenger and the gang who used to roam nearby in Wisconsin. Wish I knew more about them.

The above link is to my nemadji indian pottery website. It may be of interest to those collecting swirl painted pottery, Nemadji “Indian” Pottery, Minnesota made pottery.
For those looking for this pottery, production ended back in 2002. However, you can still find it at garage sales and antique shops. One place in Moose Lake, Minnesota called Joe Jitters coffee shop and antiques has a selection of pots ranging from the early 1950’s to the 1990’s and they are reasonably priced for the beginning collector.

This cook book was compiled by Women’s Club of Harris, Minnesota and published in 1950. Hilma was my grandmother. Her bread recipe is amazing!
I think however, there is a “type O” in the white bread recipe. It tells us to scald and cool 1 cup of milk and then add 1 cup of water. I believe that should be milk rather than water. Any ideas? My Grandma passed away in 1985.
Auntie (Mrs. Joe) created the banana bread recipe it is wonderful as well.

This is a recipe from a cook book compiled by Women’s Club Harris, Minnesota 1950
It was my Grandma Hilma’s book and her bread recipe is in there too. Just thought I would share with you what the women of Harris were cooking up over 50 years ago! I would not suggest that you try this one at home. Unless you have a great partnership with your cardiovascular surgeon.
HOT DISH

Nemadji “Indian” Pottery is my favorite thing to collect. I have hundreds of pieces and Oofta, I have so much I ended up writing a book about it! It was produced as a tourist pottery in Moose Lake and Kettle River Minnesota from the 1920’s until 2002. It can be found in garage sales, antique and collectible stores….I have paid everything from ten cents to 50 dollars per piece.
The book can be found on Amazon.

Today took a walk in my yard with my digital camera. Oofta these cameras are pretty amazing. I just put it on best shot for flowers and started snapping away. Of course, I had to delete several before I took some good enough to keep. Keepers remain on my camera.
All in all, as they say in the Northland today was “not to bad!”
